Fixing smoothies and juicing are two excellent ways to get your fruits and vegetables. They are both very healthy and contain many nutrients. When doing a raw food diet, this was the easiest way for me to get the fruits and veggies I wanted. A smoothie in the morning and a juice in the afternoon. Both use raw fruits and vegetables. You will notice a difference in the textures.
When fixing smoothies, you will use a blender. This allows you to consume whole fruits and veggies. The blender will break apart the fiber and make it easier to digest. When you juice, you will use a juicer and you’ll be removing most of the insoluble fiber while the soluble fiber will remain. Juicing is a fast way to get our nutrients and gives our digestive system a break. A smoothie / blender drink will be more filling than a juice because of the fiber it contains.
In summary, the biggest difference between smoothies and juicing is that smoothies contain the whole fruit / vegetable while juicing has no fiber. Which one is better? I don’t believe one is better than another. Both are beneficial in their own ways and it’s really easy to fix both drinks in one day if you choose to.
